American League
1. Royals — The team has been building towards this year for the past two seasons. The talented roster includes several experienced 3- and 4-year players and depth all around. No one coaches harder and more often than Coach De Llano, so let’s see if his summer success can translate to the Spring and he can stay on the field.

2025 Spring RBRL Predictions
I will start with the National League which is loaded and potentially every team is better than all the teams in the American League
1A Cubs made their first World Series last season and have a very strong 15-year-old class. As is always the case attendance can be a challenge with HS and AAU baseball conflicts but come playoff time when all players are on board, they have the arms to take the World Series title. I am keeping a close eye on Coach Frew as the only new coach in the League. There is a formula for winning in RBRL which isn’t always traditional baseball strategy, and how soon if at all he figures that out could determine their fate.

It was the Mariner’s year to shine the brightest as they played consistent baseball, after a slow start to the season, they played the game right and limited the mistakes.

Royals vs. Pirates 6-12-23 at Moscariello Ballpark
READING- The Pirates rode strong pitching to a game one 4-2 victory over the Royals in a quick moving game played in less than 90 minutes.
A sloppy defensive start for the Royals was their undoing in the bottom of the second inning as the Bucs got all the runs, they needed 4 batters into their order.

Angels vs. Padres 6-15-21 at Washington Park
READING — The RBRL World Series rarely disappoints and the eight inning thriller on Tuesday evening will be in high company when it comes to level of drama and energy in World Series folklore.
And one of the names that may be remembered years from now by RBRL enthusiasts is 14 year-old Liam Hansen.
Hansen’s walk-off flair single over the first baseman’s head on a 1-1 pitch brought home Nicky Bartalini, who had doubled, with the game winning run in the first extra-inning of Game 1 giving the “Pads” a 3-2 victory over the Angels.

1.Mariners (10-3-1)- The only team to achieve double-digit wins which is unusual where we may have a few in most years. The team did not put out their top lineup in the end otherwise they may have had only one loss. The team was built by picking in the top 3 for three straight years (the last two years draft positions were assigned just to save my mental health). How many speeding tickets do you think Costa has talked his way out of? Pitching and overall depth is what could get them to the World Series.

Hello All:
I am letting you all know about the All Star Day activities for Reading Babe Ruth this Saturday (which looks the great weather day that we deserve).

The NL has turned the usual story line upside down with all teams at .500 or better through last Saturday before the Pirates fell a game below after Sunday. The Prez doesn’t mind to be called out and I have heard about it quite regularly lately. I expect it out of Jonathan Gorski but even the gentlemanly Josh Blumenshine is giving me some ribbing. Looks like we are finally getting a string of good baseball days together so here is wishing for the best play of the year this week leading into All-Star Day.

The Prez left town for a week and all heck broke loose and the league hung in the balance for a day or two before a few veterans took charge of the crisis including “Alexander Haig” Algeri to avert disaster. How did society function prior to the internet? Was everyone just running around in circles? So now we have what will be a better website and getting there fast. All things happen for a reason so maybe the hostile takeover was a good thing to get us off the old clunker (that still served us well RIP).

Rebuilt Royals go from worst to first
The story of this year’s Reading Babe Ruth champion Royals shows how the league module works as you can rebuild through the draft and turn around a league franchise that was coming off a last-place 4-12 record a season ago. This year’s Royals improved remarkably to go 10-4-2 during the regular season and then on to a World Series championship.
Another big part in the success was a dedicated and committed team that tried to make Reading Babe Ruth its top priority when the expected conflicts occur during a spring season. Throw in exemplary leadership from the three 15-year-olds, and a group of committed coaches who continued to teach, encourage and evaluate players to put them into positions to succeed, and you have the blueprint of the 2015 champs.

The #6 seeded Reading Red PONY team completed an improbable storybook run in the Suburban League playoffs by defeating Lowell on Sunday afternoon, 9-7. This was their 3rd straight series that went to a game 3 and each time Reading won the finale on the opponent’s home field.
The Reading Red team consisted primarily of HS Freshman and was one of 2 teams that Reading entered into the PONY League from this group of Freshman. Reading is the only town other than Andover that splits their talent into 2 equal teams. Reading’s split squad teams compete against the top 10 to 12 players in big baseball towns like Lowell, Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut and North Andover. The Reading Black team also had an outstanding year finishing as a #4 playoff seed and was 1 out away from making the semi finals where they would have faced Reading Red.
